Tortoise Series: Of Tombs and Men

Sometimes I feel like I hold the key to my own destiny, and other times I feel like dying. There are moments in my day when I feel like I can conquer the world and nothing is impossible, then there are moments when something happens that brings me down and I feel like it would be easier to let it all go and just die. It’s interesting because as a younger man I never thought about that, but as I get older and things grow weary-some there are moments when I feel like I understand why life is so short, why the Divine plan is for us to only be here for one short human existence then we move on to whatever is next. Sometimes I feel like I’m succeeding and other times I feel like I’m failing. I think the real success is staying planted firmly in being happy come what may.

This sculpture comes with the wooden base I made which is a piece of old hickory found in the Sonoran Desert where I grew up.
