I have heard several people comment that this piece looks like it’s making a statement about our oceans and the pollutants in it. (The wire around the whale looks like garbage that it is tangled up in). This was not my intent, my real intent was just to create a beautiful whale/candlestick with wire that represented waves and flowers that add and extra beauty and surrealism to the piece. But, a piece of art is for both the artist and the patron. So I love hearing everyone else’s interpretations. It helps me to better understand my own art and to improve the next pieces.

This piece is a hand sculpted stoneware. I sculpted the whale by hand and hand threw the candlestick on my potter's wheel. The flowers are hand made out of polymer clay.
